(Video) Great Talk at the Vegetarian Society of Hawaii - "Are Humans Designed To Eat Meat?"
Uploaded on Jun 3, 2011 on You Tube
A presentation by Milton Mills, M.D.
The major causes of death in Western countries are cardiovascular diseases and cancers. Abundant medical research linking these diseases to dietary and lifestyle factors, guidelines advanced by the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, and the Surgeon General, among others, counsel Americans to sharply reduce animal foods consumed and replace them with fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. In effect, they are recommending a more plant-based diet, which begs the question: Are humans designed to eat meat?
Milton Mills, M.D. has an extensive background in nutrition research, focusing on the role nutrition plays in the development of chronic diseases. He is a graduate of the Stanford University School of Medicine and is a practicing physician in the Washington, D.C. area. He also serves as the Associate Director of Preventive Medicine for the health policy group Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. He has lectured extensively throughout North America and is a Nutrition Health Education Video Spokesperson for the Discovery Health Channel.

Day 1 of a Month Juicing Cleanse
Monday, Feb. 3rd, 2014
We both woke up yesterday morning looking forward to starting this juice cleanse.
I find the more juice cleanses the easier it can be.
Here's the base of our juices (I wrote this to a friend in an email, so that's why it's written this way): Here’s our breakfast & lunch ORGANIC green juice (ideally you should yield a 32 oz juice)
One (or half if too tart for you) lemon 1 slice off an organic ginger (do as much as you would like)
Cucumbers (I’ve been getting the English cucumbers from Trader Joe’s)
1 package per serving Celery (one bunch per serving) (or if you get them from Trader Joe’s one package of the 2 bunches for the juice)
Romaine lettuce (I usually get the 3 head package from Trader Joe’s and use 1 head per juice)
My add-on to this are: organic stevia to taste and organic pumpkin spice. If you want to add an apple until your taste buds change, you can.
* as of 2017 I no longer use stevia or other sweeteners, I only add apples for sweetness.
For our dinner savory ORGANIC juice:
One (or half if too tart for you) lemon 2 large tomatoes or 3 roma tomatoes
Zucchini (1/2 package from Trader Joe’s per serving)
Red bell pepper 1/2 large or 1 small
Romaine (1 head from Trader Joe’s bag) Arugula or spinach (for flavor) 1 or 2 handfuls
Celery (1 bunch from Whole Foods or 1 package from Trader Joe’s)
My add-on to this: Real Salt or Himalayan salt to taste, Garlic powder or granules and cayenne to taste.
* 10/23/2018 I haven’t used salt in years and don’t recommend it anymore. If you crave salt it can be a sign of adrenal fatigue.
Make with LOVE! Enjoy!
My “Master Cleanse” lemonade 3 organic lemons squeezed in a half gallon of purified water, sprinkle in organic cayenne to taste, organic stevia to taste, and 12 drops Cellfood.
My in between tea – Organic Yerba Mate instant tea by Ancient Wisdom with Sweetleaf Stevia drops in Vanilla flavor and English Toffee flavor to taste.
I also have a glass of Health Force Elixir of the Lake blue-green algae…ton’s of nutrition and great for cleansing and an late afternoon pick me up.
I've also been drinking our Skinny Bliss tea.
And if you’re not overloaded with liquids, plenty of purified water to flush out toxins.

Blood Type Diet: Fact or Fiction? by Michael Klaper, M.D.
There's a big following for this diet with absolutely no scientific proof. Here's an article written by a real doctor that prescribes life-saving diets with the best explanation:
by Michael Klaper, M.D.
The "blood type diet" theory has gained widespread attention from the public since the release of "Eat Right For Your Type" by Peter J. D'Adamo, N. D. (G. P. Putnam's Sons, New York, 1996). The book's basic premise - that Type O's are the dominant, hunter-caveman type that require meat in the diet, Type A's are docile vegetarians, and Type B's are dairy-eating omnivores - has become a dietary manifesto for many people. However, the "blood type diet" theory, and the book that promotes it, presents many problems that prevent me from seriously basing any of my dietary choices upon them.

Green Zombie Killer Shake (dairy-free, sugar-free & fruit-free) Recipe
Green Zombie Killer Shake (dairy-free, sugar-free & fruit-free) Recipe
by Kim Smith
Here another one of my green smoothies that makes a lot if you follow the recipe, but you can put any extra in a mason jar and keep it in the fridge. I would try to drink it the same day. This definitely needs to be made in a high-speed blender like the Vitamix or Blendtec.
3 cups Skinny Bliss Tea or water
2 Tbsp. organic chia seeds
2 Tbsp. organic hemp seeds
2 Tbsp. organic pumpkin seeds
1 tsp. HealthForce Spirulina Manna
1/2 tsp. HealthForce Elixir of the Lake blue green algae
1 tsp. organic vanilla powder
1 rib organic celery
3 small organic cucumbers
3 cups greens (organic spring lettuce mix, organic spinach, etc...)
1-2 squirts Sweetleaf flavored liquid stevia (I used English Toffee)
If more sweetness is needed add Now Foods organic stevia powder to taste
Blend with ice.
Enjoy!
All of the wonderful essential fats in the seeds help disguise the flavor of the greens. This shake will kill any morning zombie feelings and give you amazing energy! All of the ingredients with the exception of the fresh organic veggies are available at Pure Health Foods.
The Lean Green Machine (Fruit-Free, Sugar-Free Smoothie) Recipe
The Lean Green Machine
By Kim Smith
This recipe makes a lot so you can share with someone or put leftovers in a mason jar and in the fridge for later, and I recommend using a Vitamix or Blendtec high-speed blender.
3 cup Skinny Bliss Tea or purified water
2Tbsp. organic chia seeds
1/4 cup organic pumpkin seeds
1/2 tsp. HealthForce Elixir of the Lake blue green algae powder
1 Tbsp. HealthForce Spirulina Manna powder
1 1/2 Tbsp. HealthForce VitaMineral Greens powder
1/2 tsp. Yerba Mate Royale Instant Tea (optional)
3 cups organic young romaine or spring lettuce or spinach mix
Add Now Foods organic Stevia powder to your taste for sweetness
Medicine Flower organic for culinary use flavor drops (Yes, we carry these at Pure Health Foods for $21.99 1/2 oz) When it comes to these drops, a little goes a long way! I used 2 drops strawberry with 2 drops banana for my flavoring.
Blend with ice.
Enjoy!
I promise you won't taste the greens if you make this recipe exactly as it's written here. This smoothie gives you great energy. It's awesome in the morning to get you going or before a workout. It also has everything you need as a meal replacement.

Blended Raw Vegan Soup Recipe "Spicy Tomato"
We'd like to share this soup recipe we created about 9 years ago after being raw for a year and while we were working at the Go Raw Cafe.
"Spicy Tomato"

4 organic tomatoes
1/2 large organic zucchini or 1 small organic zucchini
1/2 organic red bell pepper
1/2 large organic avocado

Monsanto's Roundup Herbicide - Important Video for Your Health
At this time in our history for our health and survival we all need to go back to organic. Before World War 2 every food was organic, so was our clothing. Pesticides came about from left over war chemicals. They created the pesticide market to make money on the chemicals that were used to kill people in the war. It not only hurts the consumer that eats these foods, but also the farmers and farm workers exposed to these chemicals. Infants and children are truly impacted by these chemicals and the GMO's. The cost of not going organic far outweighs the cost of organic. The more organic we buy will bring the prices down even more and make it easier to find. If you can grow your own organic non-gmo food at home, you'll help even more. Please watch and share this video and the information. Thank You!
Monsanto's Roundup Herbicide—Featuring the Darth Vader Chemical
It was “supposed” to be harmless to humans and animals—the perfect weed killer. Now a groundbreaking article just published in the journal Entropy points to Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide, and more specifically its active ingredient glyphosate, as devastating—possibly “the most important factor in the development of multiple chronic diseases and conditions that have become prevalent in Westernized societies.”
That’s right. The herbicide sprayed on most of the world’s genetically engineered crops—and gets soaked into the food portion—is now linked to “autism … gastrointestinal issues such as inflammatory bowel disease, chronic diarrhea, colitis and Crohn’s disease, obesity, cardiovascular disease, depression, cancer, cachexia, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and ALS, among others.”
Enjoy this videotaped guided tour of Jeffrey Smith interviewing co-author Stephanie Seneff, PhD, who is a Senior Research Scientist at MIT. If you’ve already bogged down trying to work your way through the thick biochemistry jargon in the paper, this user-friendly but in-depth interview will give you great relief and insight.

Debunking the Paleo Diet: TED Talk
Ancient diet researcher Dr. Christina Warinner challenges some of the commonly held beliefs about the Paleo Diet in this fascinating talk.
Journey through history as she explores the edible landscape of our ancestors.
What’s your take on the Paleo Diet fad that is so popular?
From TED:
TED Fellow Christina Warinner is an expert on ancient diets. So how much of the diet phad the “Paleo Diet” is based on an actual Paleolithic diet? The answer is not really any of it.
Dr. Christina Warinner has excavated around the world, from the Maya jungles of Belize to the Himalayan mountains of Nepal, and she is pioneering the biomolecular investigation of archaeological dental calculus (tartar) to study long-term trends in human health and diet. She is a 2012 TED Fellow, and her work has been featured in Wired UK, the Observer, CNN.com, Der Freitag, and Sveriges TV. She obtained her Ph.D. from Harvard University in 2010, specializing in ancient DNA analysis and paleodietary reconstruction.
It should also be noted that the ancestors the Paleo Diet refers to had a very short life span. In diet history, the longest living humans have lived on a plant-based diet.
